Museo civico "Baldassare Romano":

Fondato nel 1873 è uno dei più importanti e ricchi fra gli analoghi musei siciliani. La struttura centrale del Museo fu sede di uno dei più antichi ospedali della Sicilia. Fondato nel 1376 da Gregorio Saglimpipi con testamento del 22/10/1375. Successivamente l'ospedale fu affidato ai religiosi dell'Ordine di S. Giovanni di Dio, meglio conosciuti come "Fatebenefratelli".Vi sono custodite raccolte di reperti preistorici, delle varie dominazioni (romana, araba, normanna); epigrafi; pitture, sculture. Di particolare interesse un'epigrafe scolpita su blocchi di tufo con caratteri cufici; un trittico quattrocentesco attribuito a Gaspare da Pesaro; un bozzetto scultoreo attribuito a Gian Lorenzo Bernini, raffigurante San Girolamo; pitture di Vincenzo La Barbera, Pietro Novelli; un'Annunciazione di scuola fiamminga del XVI secolo; due grandi arazzi attribuiti al La Barbera. Il circuito museale si conclude con una sezione dedicata all'Ottocento.

The Civic Museum "Baldassare Romano":

Founded in 1873 it is one of the most important and richest of the similar sicilian museums. The central structure of the museum was the site of one of the oldest hospitals in Sicily, founded in 1376 by Gregorio Saglimpipi with a will dated 22/10/1375.Afterwards the hospital was entrusted to the religious of the order of "San Giovanni di Dio", better known as "Fatebenefratelli".Collections of prehistoric finds, from the various dominations (Roman, Arab, Norman), epigraphs, paintings, sculptures are kept there. Particular-Iv interesting: an epigraph carved on blocks of tuff with kufic characters; a fifteenth-century triptych attributed to Gaspare from Pesaro; a sculptural sketch attributed to Gian Lorenzo Bernini, depicting San Girolamo; paintings by Vincenzo La Barbera and Pietro Novelli; a 16th century Flemish school annunciation; two large tapestries attributed to V. La Barbera. The museum circuit ends with a section dedicated to the 19th century.
